This is just as pigmented as TFS's Extreme Rouge, at a fraction of the price! A couple days before grad, I met up with one of my blockmates to have our legs waxed at our usual waxing salon. This time though, she wanted to go to the Robinsons branch for a change of  pace. Opportunity presented itself! I had been reading about these amazing glosses during the time, and since I was already in one of the few malls that carried it, I took advantage of the said opportunity. :D

Careline Rosy Cheek vs EB Rose

(A versus post! I haven't done these in a LOOONG time. This post is LONG OVERDUE too, actually. I've been meaning to write this since 2009!) 

What sort of local drugstore shopper isn't familiar with Careline and Ever Bilena? Both are owned by the same company, and where there's one, you can ALWAYS find the other. When I was an idiot high schooler, I used to look down on these brands because they were "cheap", and not just in the literal sense. Well, not anymore - I know better now! While not all their products are amazing, a lot of them - like their blushes - have decent quality at very wallet friendly prices.

When people talk about good local makeup on GT, I often end up buying some of it for myself. It makes me happy when Philippine products perform well. (Also, I like to believe it's my way of supporting the local makeup industry heehee!)

Careline's stick eyeshadows - super steals at just P70 - were mentioned on the local makeup thread not too long ago, hence this review.

Platinum was the most recommended color, but I got Forest Green and Cotton Candy instead because they seemed more fun to play with.

Two other blogs have reviewed this product previously, and both agree that they make excellent eyeshadow bases.

I have yet to try them as bases, but I do like how iridescent they look when swatched. Speaking of which, what else is iridescent? Fairy wings!

I don't know why, but I've been thinking about fairies and fairy-themed makeup lately. :P

Forest Green is a nice Tinkerbell green (See! What did I tell you? FAIRIES!) which has just the right amount of shimmer in it.

Cotton Candy is a barely-there pale pink which brightens up the eyes effectively.

I wore Cotton Candy over a thin layer of BB cream at school today, and it lasted until I got home at 5PM earlier! This review has more evidence to back up Glamour Eyes' lasting power - the poster even ran the product under water!

The product doesn't last as long to some GTalkers, so I really think priming before application makes all the difference.

I agree with this review that the product strongly smells like scented Panda ballpens. People sensitive to scented products should probably stay away from these, I suppose.

Also, both reviews mentioned the VERY LOOSE caps on these things. I join their ranks as the third person to say that they are indeed easily removable, and I strongly suggest securing them with elastic bands (or something similar) before taking them along somewhere.

Packaging issue aside, I'm quite pleased with Glamour Eyes and will most probably buy more colors.

Careline blush in Starlight Shine

(Stockpiled! is still updating because of the scheduled posts I made in advance last week. I am aware of the events that happened just recently thanks to typhoon Ondoy. In fact, I was even stranded at my university last Saturday. I am safe and sound now, but there are many others who are still stuck in the flood. Let us all pray for their health and safety.)

I mentioned this blush in my routine post, and Jing (aka the Girl with Glasses) also has a great swatch of this on her blog for you porcelain-skinned gals.

This blush is a very pretty earthy reddish-brown color that works on medium-toned people (like me!) as well as on lighter-toned people (quick, go see Jing's swatch!). I'm quite sure it works well on dark-toned people too, since it's a very pigmented shade.

I think it makes me look "toasted-just-right" - which I really like, because then I get reminded of freshly baked bread rolls. And who doesn't like warm bread straight from the oven?

Careline blush in Touch of Pink

This blush is a light pink that will make your cheeks look like they have, well, a touch of pink!

Its color is just as subtle as Peach Glow's, which I really really love.

Happy 9/9/9 day!

I can never stop saying how awesome Careline's blushes are despite their dirt cheap price.

This pretty, just-flushed pink is definitely solid proof that makeup need not be expensive to achieve great results.

Lipstick Swatching at Watson's

My blockmates and I are SO ready to build a statue in honor of our professor, who very kindly moved this Thursday's deadline to two weeks from now.

YAY I'M FREE! Since schoolwork isn't eating so much of my time anymore, I can post more often again!

Anyway, my mother sent me off to the grocery this afternoon to pick up some things for the fridge. After that errand, I went to the nearby Watson's and fooled around with some lipsticks (and one blush):

I tried out Rose Shimmer and Cosmic Pearl from Nichido, GTalk's most recent lipstick finds. Not so sure about the metallic finishes on these two, but I think they're both pretty shades of pink. (I'm leaning more towards Rose Shimmer, though.)

Then I tried some of Maybelline's Moisture Extreme lipsticks, thanks to sis Golden mentioning them on her blog. Cosy Tangerine failed to wow me (too bad, I had high hopes for it!), but Silk Flower seems like an awesome color even though I'm not really a fan of dark shades.

Just for fun, I swatched a random peachy-nude lipstick from L'Oreal too. Can't remember the name, though.

And finally, I tried out Careline's Starlight Shine blush, mainly because of this review. Careline blushes are starting to grow on me - they're very good quality for their price. I like to think of them as the poor college student's alternative to NARS, at least until that poor college student manages to save up enough for something like Luster or Orgasm. >8D

I was actually about to buy Rose Shimmer, but then my mother called, telling me to stop wandering around and floor it back home. Boo. Maybe next time.

Careline Oil Control Blush in Peach Glow

For my first "adventure" in the world of peach-colored blushes, I decided to get Peach Glow from Careline.

That way, if the color turns out horribly on me, I won't end up wasting money as the product retails for only P80.00.

I didn't need to worry about the color after all, as it turns out that I really, REALLY like how it looks on me. The fact that the product is matte is a plus too. Hand swatch below:

Peach blushes fit in extremely well with my barely-there makeup "philosophy". ♥

I'm quite impressed with the quality of Careline's blush. It's not flaky at all, and blends very well. Some may think it's chalky, but I've never really had any issues with "chalkiness" among the local makeup brands I've tried. The only thing I didn't like that much was the accompanying puff, which was terrible at applying the blush initially - a job better suited for a blush brush. It's okay for retouching, though.
